Less Win premiere new album via Loud & Quiet

Copenhagen’s experimental post-punk trio, Less Win, are set to hit the UK for three upcoming London shows at The Shacklewell Arms, Lock Tavern and a Rough Trade East in-store performance. Head over to Loud & Quiet to stream their new TRUST LP in full, which drops in the UK this Friday June 24th via The Big Oil Recording Company.

TRUST sees Less Win in the throes of an instinctive and free-form approach to rock music, transcending the connotations and clichés that come attached to ‘post-punk’. Here, pianos sound like sledgehammers, and saxophones like wailing widows. Strings are a haunting undercurrent, while the vocal scope of Casper Morilla and Patrick Kociszewski sounds crystal clear above the trio’s treacherous atmospherics – sang just a breath away from the deranged.

Having shared stages with the likes of The Men, Lower, Crystal Stilts, Drenge, Lust for Youth, Yung, Iceage, Spray Paint, First Hate and many more, Less Win will embark upon a UK tour this coming June with The Bodies on the dates below.

The So So Glos announce new album ‘Kamikaze’

lo res

Set to return to the fray this coming July 18th with the release of their new single ‘Dancing Industry’, followed by new album ‘Kamikaze’ on September 9th through Votiv Music, New York’s The So So Glos are a rare breed. A band fighting apathy, a band intent on distracting and inspiring a generation away from their phones and their screens, dragging them out onto the street, dancing, fucking and fighting for a future. Are you ready to testify?

Watch the brand new music video here.

Being surrounded by the apathetic, plastic, too-cool attitude that permeated New York City’s underground of the early 2000’s changed the Glos bros’ (who are actually brothers) approach to punk rock forever. They were inspired not only to dive head-first into Brooklyn’s ethos-first scene of DIY all-ages spaces, but to write charged-up fight songs by prying open big questions about the society around them, and to write anti-establishment calls-to-action.

On the forthcoming album, the follow-up to The So So Glos’ critically acclaimed ‘Blowout’ from 2013, the darks are darker, the lights are lighter, the loud louder and the quiet quieter. ‘Kamikaze’ is an album that finds the band narrowing its focus, kicking harder and faster, all serving to punctuate their subversive merging of sarcasm with sincerity, and spirituality with social awareness. “Kamikaze is about using our self-imposed weapon,” says Levi Zaru (Aleksander). “Which is music, which is art, which is freedom of expression, which is respect for the individual… all that is a weapon.”

Home Of Metal to launch photo archive at Download Festival for Black Sabbath

1

Home Of Metal celebrate Black Sabbath’s final world tour with a new fan photo archive to be launched at Download Festival on Saturday June 11th.

Established by Capsule in 2007, Home Of Metal is a ground-breaking project that examines the origins of Heavy Metal and its birthplace in Birmingham and the Black Country. Delivered across fifteen major arts institutions, including a large-scale exhibition at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Home Of Metal brought together unseen artefacts, relics, memorabilia and personal stories sourced directly from the fans alongside iconic items from bands including Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Napalm Death.

Home of Metal is now pleased to announce that they have received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for an exciting new project, to launch on Saturday 11 June at Download Festival. Inspired by Black Sabbath’s Final world tour in 2016, Home of Metal will capture this unique moment from the perspective of the fans, working together to show the impact and legacy of the band, pioneers of the genre and to celebrate this unique, significant part of British music heritage.

Home Of Metal will explore how the music of four working class lads from Aston, Birmingham captured the hearts and minds of fans globally. A testament to their loyalty, the project will pay homage to the fan’s devotion and document the forty year relationship. Home Of Metal will work with fans, volunteers and the community to harness the power of social media, make portraits and capture and collate stories that mark this unique moment in history. The content collected will be used to develop an active online archive which will form part of a future exhibition to be launched in autumn 2017.

“An artist or band’s success can be measured by their relationship with the fans and the success of the ‘Home of Metal’ exhibition brought home just how dedicated and loyal ours are” explains Black Sabbath guitarist and founder Tony Iommi. “It’s always humbling to realise how you’ve touched people’s lives with your music, a project where fans are actively involved would be great.”

To get more info, contribute to the archive, or become a volunteer go to www.homeofmetal.com and #homeofmetal to tag your memories of the day and capture a unique moment in history.

Home of Metal is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Laney Amplification, Live Nation and Team Rock. Find them online at www.homeofmetal.com

Less Win debut new track with Stereogum

(small)LESSWIN_WIDE_WEB_Amanda_Hestehave
Copenhagen post-punk trio Less Win have premiered ‘Where You Lay Your Hands’ via Stereogum today and announced an in-store performance for June 23rd at Rough Trade East in London.

Startling and abrasive, ‘Where You Lay Your Hands’ is a post-punk experiment. A melting pot of genre bending noise, with warped brass tones, driving bass and swirling, sliding guitar riffs, “it’s about never knowing what to expect and just letting go and trusting your instincts,” bassist/vocalist Patrick Kociszewski explains. “The sea, or nature, can be seen as a symbol of the body. It can be both brutal and graceful at the same time. There’s a duality to it that I really find comforting,” he adds.
