Liverpool’s MUGSTAR announce the release of their latest and most weighty sonic onslaught to date, Magnetic Seasons, the new double-album, due for release via Rock Action Records (Mogwai, Blanck Mass, Part Chimp, Envy etc) from March 4th 2016.

Stream the first cut ‘Flemish Weave’ on Team Rock.

Magnetic Seasons sees MUGSTAR shifting through a whole range of newfound sonic gears. Recorded at Liverpool’s Whitewood Studios, the band approached the Magnetic Seasons sessions in an extended and open manner. Allowing time and space to experiment, improvising and feeling their way through playing, this free approach and method of working resulted in an extended body of material; nine intense and atmospheric soundscapes moving across an expansive and distinct four sides of vinyl.

Pre-order Magnetic Seasons here: http://shop.rockactionrecords.co.uk/.

2016 will see Mugstar play the following UK dates with a full EU tour soon to be announced.

Live Dates
26th February, London, Electrowerkz
1st April, Brighton, Green Door Store
27th-29th May, London, Raw Power Festival

GANG premiere trippy new video with DIY, on tour through January

gang shot 5
Rising Brighton trio Gang have shared a new music video for ‘Breath Before Death’, the AA-side to their new 7” ‘Animalia’ / ‘Breath Before Death’ out now on Corner Shop Pop Records. Watch it on DIY.

Diving behind the scenes of a recent DIY photoshoot, Gang’s Eric Tormey explains, “Chris Wade (Dogbrain Videos) tagged along with us when we shot our recent photos with our friend Carina Kehlet. He documented the shoot, and decided to make a music video out of it. We didn’t realise it was going to be used at the time, so it’s probably the most candid footage you’ll ever see of us.

I think it was originally intended to be like one of those early 2000s MTV specials, crossed with Made In Chelsea. Instead it’s kind of like 1970s erotic horror, which is strange considering we were just being ourselves. Maybe we give off that vibe.”

Catch Gang live on their headline tour through this month, including dates with Birdskulls at London’s Strongrooms and Dilly Dally at Brighton’s Green Door Store.

January Tour Dates
20 Leeds, Nation Of Shopkeepers
21 Manchester, The Castle
22 Birmingham, Sunflower Lounge
23 Margate, Tom Thumb Theatre
24 Folkestone, Hot Salvation (Acoustic Instore)
26 London, Strongrooms w/ Birdskulls, Johnny Foreigner
27 Brighton, Green Door Store w/ Dilly Dally & Tigercub

Guerilla Toss announce Eraser Stargazer album on DFA Records

Guerila Toss Band PhotoJPEG

Ecstatic, vital, and brilliantly unhinged, new age ragers Guerilla Toss promote positive energy and twisted spirituality through the less-traveled path of brutal, intelligent, live rock and roll dance music. Like a hurricane of healing bliss, a Guerilla Toss concert is more of a ritual than a performance. It is the unique pairing of musical voices and backgrounds that makes Guerilla Toss such a special party band. But they are more than that – GT gets real when you pay close attention. Their music is inspired by both tragedy and beauty, drug addiction/mental illness and the re-birth of the soul through spiritual practice and psychedelic drug healing – helping the listener overcome these mind-fuck hardships.

Check out new single Diamond Girls: “It’s about the desire to disconnect from the material properties of social interactions and boil it down to pure elemental form,” explains vocalist, Kassie Carlson. “It’s about letting go of the bullshit to run away from smoke and mirrors.”

Their new album will be released on March 4th via DFA Records. Pre-order it from iTunes.

Tracklisting:

1. Multibeast TV
2. Diamond Girls
3. Grass Shack
4. Colour Picture
5. Eraser Stargazer Forever
6. Perfume
7. Big Brick
8. Doll Face On The Calico Highway

So Pitted reveal new track ‘feed me’ with DIY, announce UK tour dates

So Pitted (credit Sarah Cass)
Seattle punk trio So Pitted are set to release their debut album neo via Sub Pop this February 19th and have revealed a brand new track from the album, ‘feed me’, exclusively at DIY

“The group deal in strange abstractions on their first work, employing dark, chugged guitar lines and vocals that sound like they’ve been zapped in a mad scientist’s lab. Currently on through through the US supporting label-mates METZ and Nashville punks Bully, So Pitted will land on UK shores this March as part of a full EU tour.
