Bringing with them transmorphic ability, acts like Alvvays‘s contagious brand of indie pop managed to transform R&L’s Festival Republic stage into a “cider-fuelled version of Strictly Come Dancing”. DIY also went on to describe Alvvays’s “sugary melodies” as making their set “a joyous, effortless moment from a band right at the top of their game”.
Similarly, Stereoboard play upon metamorphism, hailing both Radkey and Demob Happy as conceiving a “rock ‘n’ roll sound as if they were conceived in a garage owned by Satan”. It appears Demob lived up to the promise they made to Upset to “tear it up, rock the fuck out and show people what we’re made of”.
If Radkey and Demob Happy’s sets didn’t sound menacing enough, NME warn “you shouldn’t fuck with God Damn”. With bloodied hands and faces and destructive stage antics to match their sound, God Damn successfully captured the festival goers attention.
